Beautification Commission
Thursday, July 7, 2011   


PRESENT:       Elaine Dube; Marylee Hickey; Mary Mourey; Betty Russell; Pat Sirois.

Also Present:    Diane Carlucci (7:45 p.m.)-guest.

Absent:         Pat Byrnes (excused); Dolores Kehoe (excused); Tony Russo (excused);
                Tim Bockus, Acting Director/Public Works (excused).
                Roger Moss, Director/Park and Recreation (excused).
                Bonnie Nichols, Director/Inspections and Planning (excused).


CALL TO ORDER:
Chair Sirois called the meeting of the Beautification Commission to order at 7: 15 p.m.

ACCEPTANCE OF MINUTES OF JUNE 2, 2011      
Marylee Hickey made a motion to accept the minutes of the June 2, 2011 meeting. Seconded by Betty Russell.  Approved.

OPPORTUNITY FOR CITIZENS TO SPEAK:              None.   

FINANCIAL REPORT:                                       
Mary Mourey reported that the General Fund has $8100.  A copy of the final 2010-2011 budget was given to Chair Sirois.  Remembrance Fund balance is $520.96.

COMMUNICATIONS:                         
Chair Sirois received the following communication:
Chair Sirois thanked the Commission for their donation to her church in memory of her daughter Kelly.
                
CHAIR'S REPORT: 
Chair Sirois reported that Pat Byrnes attended the Town Council meeting to present the awards to the recipients.
                        
TREE WARDEN'S REPORT:
The Tree Warden’s report was not available due to the absence of Tim Bockus.  He will email the report to the clerk and she will include it in the mailing with the minutes.
        
OLD BUSINESS:                                                                           
A.      Lawn Signs for Beautification Awards
This agenda item was tabled until next month, at that time, Marylee Hickey will report her findings.

NEW BUSINESS
A.      Beautification Award recommendations
-       Residential
Chair Sirois made a motion to award the July 2011 Residential Beautification Award to the owners of 11 McNulty Drive.  Seconded by Mary Mourey.  Approved.

-       Business
Betty Russell made a motion to award the Beautification Community Award for the month of July 2011 to Phillips Farm.  Seconded by Elaine Dube.  Approved.


Recommendations for August 2011 Awards:
        75 Jonathan Lane, front and rear yards
        210 and 212 Goodwin Street
        723 Forbes Street
        40 Blueberry
        154 Bradley Street
        55 Sawka Drive
        81 Deepwood Drive
        Kingston Drive

OTHER BUSINESS:                                                 None.
        
CONCERNS OF THE COMMISSION:
The following concerns were discussed:
-       Home on Brewer Street across from St. Chris
-       Home on Brewer Street beyond Monroe

The clerk will inform Bonnie Nichols.
PAYMENT OF BILLS:
        Theresa Godreau (clerk)                                         $ 75.00
        Arbor Day Foundation (Tree City Flag)                   $ 44.95

Marylee Hickeymade a motion to pay the bills as submitted.  Seconded by Mary Mourey .  Approved.
        
ADJOURNMENT:
There being no further business,  Marylee Hickey made a motion to adjourn the meeting at
8:03 p.m. Seconded by Betty Russell. Approved.
